Post #52 – Tomorrow comes out our forth issue, TAKE-KR MAGAZINE FEBRUARY 2018 ISSUE! This work of love is gaining strength and each issue is more complete, with more features and, I hope, closer to our readers’ hearts. January was dedicated to one of my biggest weaknesses, CNBLUE and their fan club BOICE. We got close, we laughed and cried together, no matter where we were located. This is very K-pop!
Still talking about Yonghwa …
Once again, I want to take a moment and wish Jung Yong Hwa a speedy military service, with good weather and in good spirits. The international community supports him to exhaustion. We are immune to local chat (lost in translation) and want to convey to him once more that the level of ‘worshiping him’ has only intensified in the last few weeks and months. Since we are not going to have a CNBLUE band for a while, I hope that all his fans can keep the fires burning. I, for once, will hold that promise.
Jung Yong Hwa has distinguished himself over his lengthy career of almost a decade as one of Asia’s finest voices; one of Koreas top k-pop music composers; one of Korean television’s most loved actors; and one of his country’s most admired ambassadors. His goodwill endeavors and work done to promote South Korea internationally is remarkable. Recognized by fans all over the world, Yonghwa most surely has the bulk of his artistic career ahead of him. Upon his return, we are all eager to witness a new Jung Yong Hwa era, as a solo performer and as the leader of CNBLUE.
Yonghwa is not the only idol currently enlisted or enlisting in the military. Kim Soo Hyun is serving now, as well as TOP and Ji Chang Wook. The two geniuses from BIG BANG, Kwon Ji Yong/GD and Taeyang will enlist soon. The Korean and international fandom is getting used to missing and reuniting with their most beloved stars. I believe that this no longer hinders their careers, but it relights the fires and brings back more accomplished and mature men, ready for bigger things. Good such examples are too many to enumerate.
Getting closer to the Seoul community…
In our TAKE-KR MAGAZINE we are getting closer to the Seoul community, via interviews with locals, business owners, professionals, artists. In this February issue, we interviewed the owners of Surf’s Up, a lifestyle surfing store and coffee-bar in Apgudjeong. We learned in the process about how surfing is practiced as a winter sport in Korea.
Busan, the Miami of South Korea
The main article of our February issue brings us again near Jung Yong Hwa, since it is about his and Lee Jong Hyun’s beloved home-town BUSAN. After visiting Busan half a dozen times, I can say it is one of my favorite cities in the world. It reminds me a lot of my hometown back in the US, Miami and Miami Beach. There is something magical about beaches, the lighting, the breezy evenings, the endless views. Busan has some of the most spectacular beaches and views you have ever seen. The TAKE-KR MAGAZINE FEBRUARY 2018 ISSUE article is a parallel comparison between Busan over a year ago when it was hit by Typhoon Chaba, and Busan today in all its splendor.
Itaewon and Euljiro
Two other articles highlight places of great interest for travelers visiting Seoul: Itaewon and Euljiro. The former is a seedy place from the past that has turned recently into a major shopping, culinary and entertainment attraction of this amazing metropolis; while the latter is a districts of local shops, flea-markets, and eateries that truly shines. It is Seoul’s light district. Not red light … just light. It has more lighting stores that one can imagine!
The cherry on the cake is our TOP 10 MOST ROMANTIC PLACES TO TAKE YOUR HONEY ON A SWEET DATE IN SEOUL. As we celebrate Valentine’s Day on February 14, it is a good place to start daydreaming. You might not be able to visit Seoul this month, but you can dream about your sweet date and plan for the future. Also, remember that Korea’s Valentine is a month later, on March 14, on White Day. In reality, any day is a good day for love, so keep a copy of the article for the future.
What can you expect in the upcoming few months from TAKE-KR Magazine? We are planning a lot more TOP 10 articles, as well as interviews with interesting people doing interesting things. Also, we are planning to expand as we go our online Guide section, and will publish by year end a complete guidebook on South Korea: “AN EMOTIONAL GUIDE TO SOUTH KOREA”. We call our guidebook “emotional” because it will be slightly different from other guidebooks. It will be a compilation of tales about destinations and places you have to see, written and photographed with lots of love. Last but not least, a new section of our blog will be dedicated to interaction with readers and k-pop fans. Please keep stalking us to keep up with further developments!
