DRAMAS FILMED AT HWASEONG HAEUNGUNG
‘MOONLIGHT DRAWN BY CLOUDS’ or ‘LOVE IN THE MOONLIGHT’
This drama is a fantasy love story from Joseon times, where the crown prince falls for a young woman disguised as a eunuch who does not know who he is. With Kim You Young and Park Bo Gum, this drama is an award-winning production with some of the highest ratings. The 18 episodes were broadcast from August 22, 2016, until October 18, 2016. The drama was filmed at different locations, and partially at Suwon’s Hwaseong Fortress and Palace, where the Bongsudang Hall served as living quarters for the crown prince.
‘JEWEL IN THE PALACE’ – ‘DAE JANG GEUM’ or ‘THE GREAT JAN GEUM’
The story is set during the reigns of King Seongjong starting from 1457, King Yeonsan, and King Jungjong reing till 1544. The epilogue further spans through King Injong and King Myeongjong reign that lasted till 1567, while the last scene of the drama is dated in 1550. The drama has a very elaborate plot of intrigue, curses, fate and destiny, love and revenge. Most of the drama was filmed on the MBC set particularly built for it, and which later turned into a tourist attraction, at Daejanggeum Park in Yongin. Scenes involving the crown prince’s home were filmed at Hwaseong.
